Wicker's Crab Pot
About us
Wicker's Crab Pot Seafood is a family-owned restaurant with a heritage in the seafood industry of over 60 years. Owner, Ray Wicker Jr. is a fourth-generation waterman who has been working the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries for over 30 years.
The Wicker family tradition goes back to great-granddad John Wicker Sr. who crabbed and shed soft shells as far back as the 1940s. Roy Wicker followed in his father's love for crabbing and opened the Blue Channel Crab House in the 1950s. Blue Channel Crab House was located in the Ingleside area of Norfolk on the Eastern Branch of the Elizabeth River and this is where many of our amazing recipes were created.
In 1969 my father, Ray Wicker Sr. opened Wicker's Crab and Seafood in Portsmouth. We sold crabs and hand-picked crab meat to customers in Baltimore, Washington D.C., and all of the Tidewater area. Wicker's Crab and Seafood allowed our family to carry on the Wicker family legacy for another 30 years.
In March 2008, my wife and I opened Wicker's Crab Pot Seafood and continued the family tradition. Our heritage has been our way of life for over 60 years and we plan to carry on the passion of harvesting the freshest crabs and seafood and sharing it with our guests. We are proud to be sharing our family tradition with each guest who dines at WICKER'S CRAB POT SEAFOOD.
We are very fortunate to have been able to keep our services open to the public throughout this last year of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic & have made every possible effort to stay up-to-date with current regulations, ensuring that all of our employees operate within the proper guidelines for maintaining a safe and clean facility from which we continue to serve our guests both in-house (with socially-distanced seating) and through a thriving takeout & delivery service - thank you for your continued support!
